When I started this blog a couple of years ago, I used it as a way to connect with the fans of the team that I worked for at the time. I wanted to be able to reach out and share with them the workings of their professional baseball team, and wanted them to have a first hand account of our operation.
Since then, this blog has become a lot of things, and in some cases, a lot of nothing. I want to bring it back to its roots.
Last month, I was named the Chief Operating Officer and General Manager for the Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League. I am excited to be back in an arena sport, in a city that loves and embraces football, in a league that now has a strong financial model that will ensure success well into the future.
This blog will now focus on the business side of sports. While our focus will be arena football, we might talk about basketball or baseball on occasion, indoor soccer every once in a while and of course hockey. It will be an insiders look at the front office operations in professional sports, the occasional opinion piece on the inner workings of other pro sports teams and of course I will go back to answering any questions that people might have.
As we build the Gladiators to become the model franchise in our league, I think some of you might find it interesting how we get there. I look forward to communicating that with you over the next few years.
Go Gladiators!
